The fall and winter months are upon us, and before you know it the holidays will be here! Whether you’re a lawn, pest control or termite customer, the change of seasons brings about many challenges to overcome. Insects never seem to take a vacation and they’re always trying to take over. Lawns begin to change in appearance due to a decrease of daylight hours as well as cooler temperatures.

All turf grasses need three basic things in order to survive: sunlight, food and water. During the cool season, the reduced hours of daylight slow down the natural photosynthesis process that all plant life needs to survive. Therefore, less daylight means less growth. This time of year there is usually a reduction in rainfall as well. You can be confident your technician is working hard to ensure your lawn receives the proper nutrition it needs.

Proper mowing height is a must during every season. Turf that is scalped gets exposed to fungus and disease, as well as reductions in photosynthesis necessary for growth. Scalped areas are more prone to weed seeds germinating, since the turf isn’t able to crowd it out.

All of our field technicians go through rigorous, ongoing training. They are Best Management Practices certified and constantly stay on top of the ever changing world of lawn care. We not only invest heavily in the products we use, but also in our people and their training. Because at Slug-A-Bug, we believe results are far more important than the profits.
