Local ministry operates solely on volunteer work, resources from churches, businesses and generous individuals
Whose heart doesn’t break for needy children who have no safe place to live? Thankfully, Nana’s House here in Brevard County is doing something about it. That’s why we help support this outstanding ministry. Slug-A-Bug makes monetary donations to Nana’s House and has been providing pest control services for them at no charge since 2013.
A group of children’s homes, Nana’s House provides a nurturing place for children ranging from newborn up to age 11. These are children without a safe home, whose parent or guardian can no longer provide care because of abandonment, incarceration, death, drug use or a range of other reasons. The children stay at Nana’s House until their home becomes stable or until they can receive permanent care elsewhere.
This charity is a Christian organization and receives no state funding. It is, therefore, dependent upon donations and fundraising events. Much of the support comes from area churches and businesses. Volunteers run Nana’s House. There is no paid staff.
The volunteers all strive to make Nana’s House as much like a normal house as possible, rather than a group home.
The Nana’s House thrift store at 4490 South Babcock St. in Melbourne also helps fund this 501c3 organization. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
We at Slug-A-Bug can’t commend this organization enough. It’s a wonderful charity, run by caring people who are making a real difference in the lives of the most vulnerable in our community. We encourage everyone to either volunteer or donate to this worthy cause.
