Slug-A-Bug is proud to announce the promotion of Henry Schook to Pest Department Manager. Henry’s journey through the company is a testament to his hard work, adaptability, and passion for the pest control industry – and a reflection of the supportive, family-oriented culture Slug-A-Bug strives to foster.
Henry began his career at Slug-A-Bug in 2021, joining as a Lawn Route Manager after a decade in the lawn care business. It didn’t take long for him to transition into the pest control department, where his commitment to learning and dedication to customer service helped him quickly rise through the ranks.
“What sets Slug-A-Bug apart are the company’s values and dedication to both employees and customers,” Schook said. “The company is so willing to support the team and to treat employees like family.”
Those values of integrity, support, and continuous improvement resonate deeply with Henry; He has always been drawn to environments that allow for personal growth and meaningful connections. In his new role as Pest Control Department Head, he’s excited to lead a team that shares those same ideals.
When asked what he enjoys most about the pest control industry, Henry said, “There is always something new to learn – whether pests or products. There’s always something crawling around or flying in Florida.”
That curiosity and adaptability are exactly what have made him such a strong leader.
He also brings a great sense of humor and a collection of memorable stories from the field. One such standout moment: “I challenged a trainee to knock down a large paper wasp nest. He did …and it landed on me. I took off running, but thankfully didn’t get stung. The trainee thought it was hilarious,” Henry shared.
On another call, a raccoon made a dramatic exit from a roof opening – bounding over Henry’s head on its way to the garage. “There’s never a dull moment in pest control,” he laughed.
Beyond work, Henry enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time with his family. He’s also passionate about giving back, often volunteering in the community through Slug-A-Bug or other local efforts.
His advice to those just starting out in the industry: “Be willing to learn and improve yourself. Take initiative. Most of all, develop a relationship with your customers. If you don’t, you’re easily replaced. e more than just the pest professional.”
Henry’s promotion is more than a personal milestone – it’s a win for Slug-A-Bug and for the customers who benefit from his leadership, dedication, and heart for service. His wife, Sabrina, and their children are familiar faces at company events, often volunteering alongside him. Sabrina even steps into the role of Slug-A-Bug’s beloved mascot, “Katie,” helping spread joy to families in the community. This promotion not only honors Henry’s professional accomplishments, but also highlights the incredible spirit of family and community that he and his loved ones bring to the Slug-A-Bug team.
