In the bustling world of pest control, hard work and dedication can really pay off. Meet Slug-A-Bug’s Billy Rolison, a 58-year-old Florida native, whose industry journey has been nothing short of remarkable. From his humble beginnings, Billy’s story is an inspiring testament to hard work, resilience and an excellent match between employee and workplace.

A natural fit

Three years ago, Billy joined Slug-A-Bug as a Lawn Supervisor. With more than two decades of experience in the pest control industry, it was a natural progression for him to step into this role. But when the termite department needed extra hands, Billy eagerly stepped up to help out, and it quickly became apparent that he was a perfect fit for the new position. The company noticed his dedication and how well he filled in, leading to his promotion as the Termite Manager.

A journey of perseverance

Billy’s path to Slug-A-Bug wasn’t always smooth. A Florida native born in Plant City, he spent years on a farm before making his way to the Space Coast in 1982. For a while, he worked in construction until an injury changed the course of his career. His doctor’s orders restricted him from lifting anything over 25 pounds, making construction work impossible. However, Billy’s determination to find meaningful employment led him to explore other opportunities.

It was through his cousin that Billy discovered the world of pest control. Embracing this new path, he quickly found his groove and excelled. With a passion for his work and a refusal to accept failure, Billy carved out a successful career for himself in pest control and has been thriving ever since. He has now logged nearly 36 years in the industry and holds state licenses in pest control, termite and lawn care.

A true belonging

The company’s supportive environment and recognition of his efforts have played a significant role in his professional growth and happiness. At Slug-A-Bug, Billy found a workplace where employees are appreciated and treated like family.

“I love working here and I like the culture; it’s much better than other companies, where you’re just a number,” he said. “You’re not treated like that here. It’s just phenomenal.”

As Billy continues to excel in his career, he serves as an inspiration to others, proving that with hard work and the right environment, success is always within reach.
